Life is too short.

So many things happen in life and there are too many things to do in life, but so little time. The saying, ‘the world is your oyster’ is so true because you can do whatever you want to do; it’s all up to you. Too often we limit ourselves and underestimate our capabilities and we shouldn’t do that. Go out into the world and do whatever it is you want to do. If you fail it’s okay at least you have experienced it and you can pick yourself up and move onto the next thing. Never be afraid of failure as failure is never a bad thing, it always brings about positive things in the end.
Don’t waste time being negative. We shouldn’t stress about things we have no control over, in fact we shouldn’t stress at all, because through stress nothing is achieved. Try not to be depressed about things as this is a waste of time. Of course you can be for a little time, as you need to get it out of your system, but don’t stay in that bad space.
All things negative in your life is a waste of time. Really it is. Life is too short to waste time on these things, because there is too much to do and there are too many things we have to be grateful for in our lives.
One day when you wake up in the morning just try and make the choice to be positive and stay positive throughout the day. See how it works out for you. I’m sure you’ll find it beneficial. J

We are what we do.

How many of you believe in this statement? I am often amazed at the level of self-awareness in people. It’s as if there is a zero self-awareness level in most people. If everyone could be about 50% more aware of themselves and the people around them, the world would be a much better place.
How many times have you heard people complain about their lives? They complain about how terrible their lives are and how everything goes wrong for them all the time. My theory on all this comes down to negativity by choice.
If you conduct your life in the right way and make a choice to be positive every day, your life will be positive, happy and healthy. If you do bad things in your life and are negative in everything you do, your life will be negative, sad and unhealthy.
For everything that happens in your life there is a reason. Whatever happens in your life, there is always a lesson to learn. The lesson to be learnt always makes you a better person in the end. So remember that this is true – we are what we do. The way you live your life is how your life will be.

Hidden fear...

I’ve recently discovered a hidden fear within me which is quite scary. I realised that this fear controls my life in a big way and stresses me out unnecessarily. This fear is bullying me, constantly bullying me.  I live with the fear everyday and try to avoid it, run away from it, act as though it’s okay and as if I am in control of it, but this is not really the case. When this fear catches up to me I feel as though my whole world is upside down. I’m so afraid of facing up to this fear, but I know that’s what I need to do.
This fear always tries to break me down, but I believe in myself. I don’t need this fear to believe in me. When I have faced up to it, it just goes back to bullying and controlling me. I can’t get rid of the fear because it is part of my life, always staring me in my face. This fear is suffocating me.
I realise that I am allowing this fear to take over my life. I’m the only one who can get rid of the fear and find my happiness.  This fear is more fearful of me. I am much bigger than this fear and can rise above it. Life’s too short to fear and be controlled.
If you have a fear that controls your life just believe in you. You never have to fear.

We are afraid of the wrong things...

It’s funny how we are afraid of the wrong things. We find ourselves doing all sorts of things so that we can be accepted and admired by society. Who is society? Society creates a whole lot of unwritten rules and regulations which make humans believe that a specific type of behaviour is right.
When you don’t act in accordance to what society deems as right you are highly frowned upon.  Society puts a lot of pressure on you as an individual to be something it wants you to be and most people adopt this way of life, as it is portrayed as normal. Society is lead by minority and followed by majority.  Nobody wants to be an outcast (well maybe these days some people do, in extreme ways) and nobody wants to be rejected, because it hurts.
I personally think all the ‘rules and regulations’ put out there by society are a load of crap. I believe you should live the way you want to live. Do things because it’s what you want to do and because it is who you are. Don’t allow society to make you afraid of being you; don’t allow society to make you afraid of the wrong things. Society does not control you; you are the creator of your own life. You are your own boss. Live without fear of the wrong things.

Get real people!

People walk around everyday fronting. Fronting who you are, thinking material items define you, creating this reputation which people associate you with. I personally, have never been a firm believer in reputation. In fact, I hate the word whenever it’s brought up in a conversation. Sure, people do view you in a certain way, based on the way you carry yourself, but why should you constantly have do things seen as cool or smart so that you can have a ‘good’ reputation? If you are honest in everything you do and just who you are then I think you shouldn’t worry what people think of you.
Too often I see people doing things to impress society. They have to wear certain clothes, act a certain way, get the latest piece of technology, go to the ‘cool’ spots in town and when they say they have ‘this’ or they went ‘there’ they are actually viewed as cool. For me having to constantly do things so that you can fit in must be extremely tiring. I mean it is hard work to be someone you are not isn’t it? Besides, where are you in all of this? It’s so much simpler being you than trying to be someone else, but a lot of people fail to do this every day-it’s crazy!
If you think about it, the biggest fear of any human being is the fear of rejection. So, people put up walls around themselves and act a certain way so that they don’t get hurt. Getting hurt is part of life, plus it makes you stronger as a person. We don’t realise that all human beings are equal and that doing something ‘cool’ or wearing the latest clothes doesn’t make you any better than the next person.
Basically, I just wish that everyone could be themselves and just relax. You’d be more comfortable and it will make the world a much better place.

Fish falling from the sky.

Imagine waking up, going outside and seeing fish laying around everywhere-on the streets, gardens and parks. Imagine driving or walking over all those fish. Kind of gross isn’t it?
When you walk outside all you’ll smell is fish everywhere. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad thing because all the homeless people would actually be able to eat. They could even have a months’ supply of fish groceries and have lavish fish dishes such as fish kebabs and fried fish. What would be even better is if something new could fall from the sky each week-chickens falling from the sky, hamburgers falling from the sky, pizzas falling from the sky. As bizarre as this may sound, people could constantly be fed and the thought of these things falling from the sky might not be so weird anymore. It could be helpful.
If fish were to fall from the sky we’d know that there is something seriously wrong with the environment. Truth is it has happened before. Say what??? Just Google it and you’ll see. Amazing stuff!
We all know of global warming and the negative effects it has on the earth. Well now we could have global feeding and the positive effects it has on the earth. That would be something spectacular don’t you think?

Adidas Originals

When I was just 11 years old, I had received my first brand label item. It was a pair of Adidas sports shoes a.k.a. takkies. In my second year of tertiary education I learnt that we as individuals are all brands and we continuously have to build our own brand.  We were assigned to complete an assignment where we had to state our favourite brand and motivate reasons as to why this was our favourite brand. Mine of course was Adidas and still is. Without realising, I feel as though I have always been living the Adidas brand. Sound crazy? Let me explain what I mean.
Ever since I was a child, the only brand I have ever really taken a liking towards was Adidas. I simply loved the style, feeling and look of the brand and the way it made me feel. I felt as though this was the only brand that had appealed to me, because it’s as though the brand was made especially for me. Has anyone ever felt that way about something? My likes, my interests, my character, my personality, my style, there is no other brand that can express this better for me, than Adidas.
My favourite category in Adidas is the Adidas Originals brand. The slogan is ‘celebrate originality’. Everything I do in my life I do with truth and honesty and I have a great respect for anything old and authentic. I live every day of my life by celebrating originality.
The slogan for Adidas is “Impossible is nothing.” This appeals to me very strongly as it is one of my firm beliefs. I believe I can do anything I want to do and I can achieve anything I want to achieve. As arrogant as this belief may sound, it actually does achieve a lot for me.
Adidas is not just a brand to me. It’s not just a cool item of clothing, which will make me look cool amongst my friends and peers. It’s not about anything materialistic or tangible to me (Lord knows I can’t afford most items of their clothing anywayJ). I don’t even need to have any or many of their items. The Adidas brand to me is a way of life.
I can’t really explain in words what this brand means to me or how I interpret this brand. Maybe this video will help with my interpretation of the Adidas brand.

The colour of the wind...

I don’t like the wind. It messes up my hair, blows dust in my eyes and hurts my ears causing me to have a huge sinus headache. I don’t mind a fresh breeze though. That is so refreshing and graceful in the way it blows.
I’ve never thought about the wind having a colour until I had actually given it some thought. While thinking about it, I came to classify different winds into different colours.
When I think of rough gale force winds, I associate it with the colour red. The reason for this is because it seems as though the wind is fierce, angry, boisterous and loud. The wind, to me, is always telling a story in the way it blows and when gale force winds blow, it’s as if the wind wants to make a really bold statement.
The wind between being a gale force wind and a calm wind I can’t actually associate with any colour because it is very neutral. It seems as this wind is the ‘follower’ in the sense that it blows purely for the sake of blowing. You are aware that the wind is blowing, but it’s almost as if you don’t notice it, because it doesn’t bother you.
A wind which is hot, or more commonly referred to as the heat wave I associate with a dirty brown colour, because there is nothing fresh and pure about it. I guess you could see this wind as the ‘evil’ wind. Every breath you take feels as though you’re inhaling millions of toxins and your body is being intoxicated with harmful gases or dirt.
A calm breeze, aaahh, this is my favourite amongst them all. The colour of a calm breeze I associate with blue. It’s soothing, refreshing and tranquil. It blows gracefully through your body, purifying it and bringing you fresh oxygen.  This is the purest of all winds and as I mentioned earlier the most graceful.
Each element in nature has character. This is my interpretation of the wind and its character, I’m sure that it is different for everyone. There is so much colour and emotion in nature, because nature is beautiful. It brings a sense of colour and emotion in everybody’s lives and souls, it’s all about the way you interpret it…
