Get real people!

People walk around everyday fronting. Fronting who you are, thinking material items define you, creating this reputation which people associate you with. I personally, have never been a firm believer in reputation. In fact, I hate the word whenever it’s brought up in a conversation. Sure, people do view you in a certain way, based on the way you carry yourself, but why should you constantly have do things seen as cool or smart so that you can have a ‘good’ reputation? If you are honest in everything you do and just who you are then I think you shouldn’t worry what people think of you.
Too often I see people doing things to impress society. They have to wear certain clothes, act a certain way, get the latest piece of technology, go to the ‘cool’ spots in town and when they say they have ‘this’ or they went ‘there’ they are actually viewed as cool. For me having to constantly do things so that you can fit in must be extremely tiring. I mean it is hard work to be someone you are not isn’t it? Besides, where are you in all of this? It’s so much simpler being you than trying to be someone else, but a lot of people fail to do this every day-it’s crazy!
If you think about it, the biggest fear of any human being is the fear of rejection. So, people put up walls around themselves and act a certain way so that they don’t get hurt. Getting hurt is part of life, plus it makes you stronger as a person. We don’t realise that all human beings are equal and that doing something ‘cool’ or wearing the latest clothes doesn’t make you any better than the next person.
Basically, I just wish that everyone could be themselves and just relax. You’d be more comfortable and it will make the world a much better place.

  1. Hear hear! The world has too much of this going on! I feel the exact same way as you Meggs. I spot fake people and I start running. The last thing I want is to be associated with superficial people and their crap. Awesome topic, well-written too!
